The Italian Senate approved a report on the liberalization
of neighbouring rights’ market.
After examining the subject, the Senate drafted a
document in which, specifically, commits the Government to intervene, even with
the adoption of a specific law,
so that the 99 million euro of the remaining
assets of the IMAIE’s liquidation will be distributed across all the collective
management organisations.
The market liberalization has showed the need to
modify the contents of the law establishing Nuovo Imaie (Law 100/2010), where Nuovo
Imaie is indicated as the sole beneficiary of such sums.
The report underlines also the need for a coherent
action at the level of primary legislation.
It’s not possible to regulate the neighbouring rights’
subject exclusively through emergency decrees.
