There are Paolo Fresu, Luciano
Ligabue, Gianna Nannini, Mario Biondi, Frankie hi-nrg mc, Raphael Gualazzi,
Fabrizio Bosso, among the over 2.000 artists that signed an open letter calling
on the
Italian Parliament and Government to recognize an equitable remuneration on
streaming music service.
The appeal is promoted by
ITSRIGHT and Paolo Fresu, as part of the common support to the European
Payperformers campaign.
Performers are concerned about the Government
decisions that do not adequately resolve the situation that sees, on the one
hand, the streaming platforms increase their profits and, on the other, performers
receive little or no nothing for the uses of their music.
Singers and musicians are now
asking to implement the 2019 EU Copyright Directive and, in particular, its article 18, which guarantees performers
appropriate and proportionate remuneration from streaming services.
Without an immediate change the future and the
work of an entire cultural category is at risk.
